The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Richard Colbert can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: I am surprised and saddened to find my friend from the Hopkinson House, Dick Colbert, has passed. RIP, Dick.
We met in about 1969 while both working in the AV business and as I was moving to Phila from Cincinnati and single, Dick encouraged me to take an apartment in the 'HoppHouse' as we called it. I was on the 23 floor, I think Dick was on 22. We often played catch in Washington Square, Dick could really burn in the fast ball! Many times we traveled together on business to Wash. D.C., I introduced him to Central Liquor by the FBI building where we got great prices on all our booze.
On one trip Dick had just bought a new Olds Toranado front wheel drive and wanted me to try it it, so I was driving on the Balti/Wah Pike and hit into an accident that happened just ahead of us. We got smashed into by a car following me. What a mess! Dick got a green Camino to replace that Olds.
I moved to Cherry Hill in 1973 to a condo, met my future wife and lost track of Dick. He was a good friend to me when I came to Phila. I have fun memories of us as single guys mixing with the nurses of Jefferson Hospital and I was pleased to donate and vote for 'Congressman Colbert' when he ran against Bill Green and called him a 'clown' on KYW TV. Dick Colbert was a unique individual and he was my friend.
